This companion will start with 100 trade skill. In the best case, find a character with with this name, otherwise characters with the Exile or the Swift will also work well as they start with 80 skill in Trade. You will need one companion and 15,000 denars to start a caravan. Once you have an extra companion, you can create a caravan by heading Don't forget companions with ENG skill, can help expedite construction so it might be prudent to level up their other talented governing skills. yeah they really are a useful boost. you can also get a small morale bonus if the cultures match. Oh boy, I keep forgetting about the cultural match (arghhh), very good tip! This is from our 1.5.6 Beta Patch Notes: Hostile actions against caravans and villagers (Force them to give supplies, taking them prisoner, attacking them) now give Roguery experience. I opted into the 1.5.6 version. The levels are not fully stagnated as they do go up from time to time by a point the problem is how slow progression is even Stop using the arrow buttons and instead click on the role and a drop-down menu will come up where it doesn't reset anything. It's the precisely the scrolling back and forth that breaks it. If you click on it and use the dropdown menu, you shouldn't need to talk to your companions directly. (Basicly click on "none" and it should open up) TL;DR - The easiest way to level companions is to make them use skills that they don't know how to use. You want to find a low-level companion, with attributes and focus, but not skill in the skills you care about, then equip them with weapons they don't know how to use. You are the level 1 hero. Alternatively, you can strip a companion of armor, shield, horse and give them a pitchfork from a looter. he wants a companion he can skill as he pleases from ground on, in stead of building up on a existing template. @ontrose afaik there are mods that allow you to alter characters. I do know trade is easier for the MC tho, but it also seems to crawl for NPCs. Like I have been having a companion run a caravan for years and her trade hasn't increased enough to get a single extra perk. It's for better Auto resolve results only and there is no proper way to level it. Auto resolving doesn't level it faster, which is insane. Scouting perks don't work, the scouting bonuses don't make you move on the map faster. Cunning is garbage sadly. Companions are stats are always wrong. Doctors with 1 int for example. Damn near impossible to Companions rescued from bandits on the map can have 0-2 beginner perks and rarely an experienced perk. - Companions obtained from the companion hideouts listed above can have 1-2 perks of expert and grand level, making the perks more effective than beginner perks. - You can see the perks from the Companion tooltip window.
